Versión PDF Facebook
Friday, June 18th, 2010 (All day) - Monday, June 21st, 2010 (All day)

The Mexican documentaries, “Circo” and “Un día menos” will be presented at the Los Angeles Film Festival (LAFF 2010) on June 18 and 19, respectively, at the Regal Cinemas 14 at L.A. Live (1000 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90015).

The appearance of both documentaries will be supported by the University of Guadalajara Foundation-USA, the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) and the University of Guadalajara at Los Angeles, which is promoting these screenings as part of its cultural program in the Los Angeles, California area.

“Circo” (2010), a USA-Mexico co-production directed by Aaron Schock, will be shown June18 at 7:45 PM (Regal 10), June 19 at 4:30 PM (Regal 9) and June 21 at 5:00 PM (Regal 11). In this documentary, Schock masterfully chronicles the life of the Ponce family, who for more than 100 years has eked out a living operating a small traveling circus, making their way through the Mexican countryside one town, one performance at a time. Family patriarch Don Gilberto may be the ringleader, but the real stars are the four charming Ponce children, who rehearse their acts tirelessly while also laboring night and day to maintain the only life they have ever known.

For its part, “Un día menos” (2010), by Mexican director Dariela Ludlow, will be shown on June 19 at 1:30 PM (Regal 13) and June 20 at 7:30 PM (Regal 10). This documentary tells the moving story of an elderly couple, 84-year old Carmen and 97-year old Emeterio, who live out their twilight years in their Acapulco home in anticipation of the next visit from relatives.

The 16th Los Angeles Film Festival is to be held from June 17-27 and will feature the best in international and American cinema, with screenings of more than 200 feature films, documentaries, short films and music videos from 40+ countries being presented. The Festival connects the movie-loving public to critically acclaimed filmmakers, film industry professionals and emerging talent.
