Face of the World Festival 2008

This festival of Latin culture opened with the play Íntimamente Rosario de Chiapas, which was written and performed by Ofelia Medina and based on the poetry of Rosario Castellanos.
Face of the World Festival 2008 was organized by the University of Guadalajara, The New LATC and the University of California at Los Angeles, and featured a cultural program made up plays, puppet shows, and festivals of music and dance put on by Mexican and Hispanic artists. The festival showcased the vast diversity and richness of artistic expression in our country.
“It’s an honor for me to be a part of this cultural event. We coming together the best way human beings can, through culture,” said Ofelia Medina during the inauguration of the Face of the World Festival 2008.
In addition to Íntimamente Rosario de Chiapas the, the Mexican actress also performed Cada quien su Frida at the festival.
The program also included the operetta Las Leandras, the puppet play Canek (inspired by the classic Philoctetes), concerts by Jaramar Soto and the group Troker, as well as the dance spectacle Autorretrato, Cuatro estudios sobre la figura humana.

The Face of the World Festival 2008, the result of collaborative agreement between the University of Guadalajara and the New Los Angeles Theater Center (The New LATC), took place from September 12 to December 14, 2008.
