Lecture by Mario Bellatín closes certificate program
The lecture series which made up the certificate course, Latin American narrative in the 21st century: Local stages, global horizons and voices of change, run by the University of Guadalajara at Los Angeles, was brought to a resounding finish by Mexican-Peruvian writer Mario Bellatín. Introduced by the young writer Agustín Goenaga, Bellatín began the last module of the certificate course by offering reflections on the teaching method used at the Escuela Dinámica de Escritores (Dynamic School of Writers) in Mexico City, where he leads non-traditional creative activities which leave each person free to develop their own writing style.
Bellatín took questions after his talk, which led to a lively exchange with the audience, most of whom were professors and students at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).
This lecture and the fiction writing workshop, the latter of which was led by Diamela Eltit, took place at the UCLA’s Covel Commons building.
